Michael Allen clarifies decision to redshirt at UNLV, addresses role of NIL

By Nick Schultz, On3 Sports: Wednesday afternoon, Michael Allen became the second UNLV football player to announce his plans to redshirt and enter the transfer portal. He said it had to do with “opportunities” that “were not met,” but he later clarified the role NIL played – or rather didn’t – in his decision.

Allen made his announcement the same day Matthew Sluka shared his plans to redshirt and eventually enter the portal. Sluka’s decision, as On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed, was due in part to a verbally promised $100,000 NIL deal that didn’t come to fruition.
