After over three decades of waiting, “Top Gun” movie fans finally got their long-awaited sequel in 2022 with “Top Gun: Maverick,” and it’s a smash hit.
An identifying feature of the film is the “call signs” that pilots give to one another, a nickname that each pilot identifies as that also reflects his personality.
This prompted a listener to ask, what would each Pac-12 football coach’s call sign be if they were in Top Gun?
In today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I provide insight into the personalities and coaching styles of each coach in the Pac-12.
And next up in the ongoing series of Pac-12 coach evaluations is Colorado’s Karl Dorrell. He has one of the toughest overall jobs in the Conference, but through his two (1.5) seasons in Boulder, things are off to a bit of a…rocky start.
The recruiting profile has not been elevated early in his tenure, and the small handful of highly-rated recruits he’s brought in are no longer on the roster.
His assistant hires have not gone well so far, with him having to replace both coordinators after just 1.5 seasons’ worth of games.
His leash with the buffaloes might be longer than at some other programs, but there are not a lot of positive signs right now for Colorado football.
