Pac-12With most of July serving as a dead period, June has become a hotbed of recruiting news and activity in recent years for teams all over the country.

When looking at all of these recruits, it’s important to understand the information we are seeing when considering something like a composite rating next to a player’s name.

Today’s episode features a veteran expert’s take on how to interpret such ratings when determining what sort of player a high school recruit could become.

On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, I’m joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated.

Among the latest recruits to commit to the Pac-12 is Dijon Stanley, an explosive offensive talent who has verbally committed to Kyle Whittingham and Utah Football.

Though typically a power-driven offense, a player like Stanley can very well work himself into the offense—he’s the sort of player Other Pac-12 schools have also recently landed some promising verbal commitments in the Class of 2023.

Colorado and Oregon State Football have both added EDGE players with high-level frames. Carson Mott and Zakiah Saez are the sorts of players the Buffs and Beavs would love to keep committed, but if they “pop” as seniors that could prove difficult.

Meanwhile, Arizona and head coach Jedd Fisch now have the most commitments in the conference at this point in time for next year’s recruiting cycle.

They’ve recently added DBs Arian Parish and Carter Stoutmire to the secondary, two players from the state of Texas who had offers from other notable Power-5 programs that again show Arizona’s recruiting potential going up under Jedd Fisch.
