It’s easy to forget that USC and UCLA’s move to the Big Ten doesn’t take place until 2024.

That leaves two years and two full recruiting cycles for teams to continue in the same ways as they always have been.

What could recruits think about programs that are planning to change conferences? What about the schools that are rumored to be considering a conference change?

On today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I’m joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated.

We talk about how—at least for now—the ramifications on the recruiting trail of conference realignment are relatively limited.

John also shares his insight on what could be next for the conference of champions, which might include looking to the Big 12.

Not for a collaboration, but rather for inspiration for a realignment path after seeing its two biggest schools (in terms of TV markets) opt to leave for a bigger conference.

Finally, we close by talking about some of the latest conference recruiting news. USC and Oregon are still squarely in the mix for 5-star EDGE Matayo Uiagalalei, and the Trojans could have an advantage because of Matayo’s background in music production.
