247Sports: Opting-out of non-playoff bowl game has become an increasingly popular-trend for college football players who are on the brink of their NFL careers, and it’s a phenomenon that North Carolina head coach Mack Brown can’t help but voice his thoughts on after several of his top players decided to pass on playing in the Tar Heels’ Orange Bowl loss to No. 5 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Speaking with ESPN’s David Hale, Brown made a plea for expanding the College Football Playoff as a possible remedy for players opting out, a sport-altering trend which he doesn’t expect to lose momentum anytime soon.
