By R.J. Abeytia, USCFootball.com: If there was a unifying thread among the new hires to USC’s coaching staff, it was the less-than-obvious nature of the responses to their hiring. D’Anton Lynn had proximity but that proximity was connected to a single year coaching at USC’s crosstown rivals.

Doug Belk was a defensive coordinator, who chose to come coach the secondary at Troy. Eric Henderson was in the NFL as defensive line coach for future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams.
