Jimmy Lake on the transfer culture in CFB – ‘It’s sad, very sad’

Dawgman: In the NFL, there is a period of time designated for the start of free agency. It lasts for a couple of months and leads into the NFL Draft, allowing teams two opportunities to fill holes in their roster. In college football, it isn’t as clear cut, but there are now three different ways that teams can add talent to their team — the Early Signing Period, National Signing Day and the Transfer Portal — the latter of which can happen at any time of the year.



 


 

On Monday, Washington Husky head coach Jimmy Lake was on with Dave “Softy” Mahler and Dick Fain for 25 minutes, talking about the newest coaching changes on his staff as well as several other subjects, one of which was the transfer portal, a phenomena he is sad to see the landsape of college football.
