An updated look at where Conference teams are likely to land in the postseason

Changes at the top of the Pac-12 have a ripple effect on postseason projections.

Oregon’s win over UCLA last weekend pushed them to the top of the food chain while also dropping the L.A. schools and Utah down a notch or two.

Projections at this time of year remain highly speculative,  and there’s a good chance that we think will happen now won’t align with the actual bowl matchups come December.

Nonetheless, here are my latest predictions on where Conference teams will land in the postseason.

Rose BowlOregon vs. Michigan

2:00 p.m., PT, ESPN, Jan. 2, 2023, Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA

Oregon Ducks Logo Pac-12The Ducks will be favored in all of their remaining games.

I wouldn’t bet against them but logic suggests they should lose a conference game and will miss out on the CFP. I still think they can win the Pac-12 and get to Pasadena, however.

Cotton BowlUSC vs. Cincinnati

10:00 a.m., PT, ESPN, January 2, 2023, AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

I think USC has a slight edge over UCLA and Utah right now for the second slot in the Pac-12 hierarchy.

Yes, I know they lost to Utah, but it was by one point on the road. They close the first season of the Lincoln Riley era with an NY6 bowl.

Alamo BowlUCLA vs. TCU

6:00 p.m., PT, ESPN, December 29, 2022, Alamodome, San Antonio, TX

The Bruins took a hard shot at Oregon.

They’ll bounce back and stay near the top of the Conference, though I think they lose to USC.

Holiday BowlUtah vs. Kentucky

5:00 p.m., PT, FOX, December 28, 2022, Petco Park, San Diego, CA

Utah’s season probably comes down to whether or not they can win in Eugene.

I don’t see that happening now and it knocks them down the bowl lineup.

Las Vegas BowlWashington vs. Florida State

4:30 p.m., PT, ABC, December 17, 2022, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, NV

The Huskies have a really good offense. They have a really bad defense.

That’s how you end up in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2022.

Sun BowlWashington State vs. Pitt

11:00 a.m., PT, CBS, December 30, 2022, Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX

Jake Dickert’s first full year as head coach in Pullman ends well, with a trip to El Paso.

They can easily move up the bowl tree if they can pull off an upset as the season closes.

Los Angeles BowlOregon State vs. Boise State

12:30 p.m., PT, ABC, December 17, 2022, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, CA

The Beavers’ real bowl game will be trying to upset Oregon at the close of the regular season.

Either way, they still make the conference’s last bowl slot.
