By Scott Eklund, Dawgman: The excitement for the start of spring football was tempered a bit following the first practice when Washington head coach Jimmy Lake announced that redshirt sophomore outside linebacker Laiatu Latu has retired from football due to a neck injury he suffered last fall. The news as the only bad news on an otherwise good day for the Huskies.
