CougFan: Jeff Banks, one of the great punters in Washington State history and a member of WSU’s historic 1997 team, can now add national champion to his resume. Banks has been the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Alabama for the last three seasons. Monday night, the Crimson Tide routed Ohio State, 52-24, to cap a perfect 13-0 season and win the 2020 national title.
Football Scoop reports that Steve Sarkisian, the Bama offensive coordinator who was just hired as head coach at Texas, is looking to woo Banks to Austin — and not just because of Banks’ on-field work. Banks is considered one of the best recruiters in the nation.
