By Cody Nagel, 247Sports: BYU coach Mark Pope is set to be the next headman of Kentucky basketball, filling the position left vacant by the departure of John Calipari this week. Pope, who played three seasons for the Wildcats in the 1990s, spent the past five seasons at BYU.
Kentucky zeroed in on Pope Thursday after unsuccessfully pursuing other candidates Baylor’s Scott Drew and UConn’s Dan Hurley. The initial reports of the expected hiring elicited mixed reactions from college basketball experts.
