Curtis: Fernando Mendoza's great game ends Cal's QB competition

By Jake Curtis, California Golden Bears on SI: With five minutes left in the first half of Cal’s 21-14 upset victory over Auburn, the Bears’ two-man quarterback competition ended.

Cal had planned to have Fernando Mendoza and Chandler Rogers split playing time at quarterback in Saturday’s game, but Mendoza was so good in the first half there was no way the coaches could take him out.
