But that’s not always the case, especially in a modern era filled with open transfer rules and name, image and likeness deals that put an emphasis on early performance and standing out from the crowd.
As teams lose depth, younger players are becoming more important than ever. 247Sports released its 2024 Preseason True Freshman All-American team Tuesday, and almost every name included will play a major role on their respective teams.
Any first-year player expected to contribute immediately faces an immense amount of stress. The jump from worrying about senior prom to a fifth-year senior linebacker chasing you down is quite steep.
