By Isaac Trotter, 247Sports: College basketball’s schedule is a grind, and we’ve hit the dog days of winter. Teams at the top of the pecking order are trying to separate, but the season is long and landmines can pop up out of nowhere.
Let’s take a peek at some of the top high-major races for a conference title. The SEC, Pac-12 and Big 12 still feel pretty wide open. The Big Ten looks like a two-team race, but a few others are trying to crack that inner circle. None can compete with the Mountain West where Utah State has the lead but New Mexico, San Diego State and Boise State are all just one game back with plenty of twists and turns left to go.
