By David Cobb, CBS Sports: Liberty was already riding high early in its tenure as an FBS program before Jamey Chadwell’s arrival as coach ahead of the 2023 season. Hugh Freeze guided the program to four straight bowls from 2019-22 and wins over the likes of Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Arkansas before leaving to take the Auburn job.
Keen on maintaining a winning trajectory as they transitioned from independent status to Conference USA in 2023, the Flames lured Jamey Chadwell away from Coastal Carolina. After taking the Chanticleers to previously unprecedented heights, he immediately did the same for the Flames.
