Brett McMurphy’s Week 13 College Football Playoff and bowl projections

By Brett McMurphy, Action Network: Down the stretch they come: two weeks remain, and there are 64 bowl-eligible teams for the 82 available spots. There are 40 teams still mathematically alive to reach six wins: 24 five-win teams and 16 four-win teams.

It’s impossible to exactly project if there will be enough six-win teams — believe me, I’ve tried — but if there aren’t enough six-win teams, then some teams with five wins will go bowling.

If any teams with 5-7 records are needed to fill any spots, they will be selected based on the program’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) rankings for the 2022-23 school years, the latest data available.
