ASU's Cam Skattebo just missed Heisman New York invitation, finishing fifth

By Michelle Gardner, Arizona Republic via Yahoo Sports: The Arizona State fan base was disappointed Sun Devils running back Cam Skattebo didn’t get invited to New York for this weekend’s Heisman Trophy festivities. But the senior dynamo was close.

Four players invited to New York were odds-on favorite Travis Hunter of Colorado, running back Ashton Jeanty of Boise State and quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel of Oregon and Cam Ward of Miami.

ESPN unveiled the players who finished in fifth through 10th places, and Skattebo was fifth, one spot away from where he needed to be to get the prestigious invite. He is ASU’s highest finisher since quarterback Jake Plummer was third as a Heisman finalist in 1996.
