Arizona State football has played 111 seasons dating back to 1897, with no games being played in 1889, 1901, 1907-1913, 1920-21, and 1943-1945.
The Sun Devils have won 18 conference titles, including three in the Pac-12 and one in the Big 12, a 45–19 victory over Iowa State in 2024.
The school has produced three unanimous All-Americans and 16 consensus selections. Last season, Cam Skattebo was named an All-American by the Associated Press, CBS, the Athletic, and Sports Illustrated.
Other celebrated players include Pat Tillman, Terrell Suggs, Mike Haynes, Darren Woodson, Charley Taylor, and John Henry Johnson.
The ASU football program has featured several notable head coaches, including Hall of Famers Dan Devine and John Cooper and national champion Dennis Erickson.
The all-time school wins leader is Hall of Fame coach Frank Kush, for whom Frank Kush Field at Sun Devil Stadium is named.
Kush consistently led the Sun Devils to wins over the Arizona Wildcats, ASU’s traditional rival, losing to the Wildcats only twice between 1963 and 1979.
