With the Big Ten’s reversal of course on Thursday —Â the conference now plans to kick off its football season in October after initially postponing to early 2021Â — the Pac-12 is the only Power 5 Conference that is not currently scheduled to hold a football season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That could soon change, however, given the signifcant momentum toward reinstating a Fall 2020 season that has occurred out west in the time since the Big Ten’s announcement on Wednesday. Oregon and Oregon State were both granted exemptions from the Oregon Health Authority’s guidance, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom turned heads when he commented that no guidelines actually prevent Pac-12 games from being played in the state.
