Alabama AD Greg Byrne on whether DeBoer was right hire to follow Saban

By Nick Schultz, On3: In January, Greg Byrne found himself facing the tallest task of his career. Nick Saban announced his retirement, meaning the Alabama athletics director had to replace the greatest of all time – and he landed on Kalen DeBoer as the hire.

The decision received high praise considering the job DeBoer did at Washington. He took the Huskies from a 4-8 team before his arrival to an 11-win team in Year 1 and a national championship game appearance in his second season. Michael Penix Jr. also developed into a Heisman Trophy finalist and Top-10 pick in the NFL Draft.
