Thanks to recent search via recent research via Stassen, they compiled decades worth of AP Poll finishes and preseason rankings since 1989, which provide a healthy helping of intel on how programs are perceived vs. how they finish.

Preseason polls generate discussion, but by no means affect a team’s performance. We’re expecting parity this fall during the first year of the expanded playoff era, just like we saw earlier this year with Washington and Michigan duking it out in the national championship game.
