By Chris Hummer, 247Sports: College football rosters are deeper than they’ve ever been entering the 2021 campaign. The NCAA choosing to pause eligibility clocks in 2020 created a group of “super seniors,” who have opted to return to campus for a fifth or sixth season beyond their original eligibility. That means the two-deep for many programs will look similar to what it did a season ago.
That makes the 2021 season the most difficult ever for true freshmen to crack the rotation.
Not that they won’t play. 247Sports follows true freshmen closer than anyone else – it’s a natural next step following the recruiting process – with our True Freshman All-American team, and we still expect a number of first-year players to make a splash nationally.
